JSON Schema generator

Infer and edit a JSON Schema from an example object.

Example contact: A contact with name, email, active status, and a list of tags.

Example JSON

Validate another JSON value

Example value matches the generated schema.

Generated schema

Schema ready from the example.

A single example cannot show optional fields, alternate types, or every array item shape. Review the output before using it as a contract.

How it works

Each example value determines a type; object keys become properties and the first array element supplies the item shape.

Optional controls add required keys, strict object properties, and recognized string formats.

Sources and checked dates

Limits

  • One example cannot reveal every valid shape. Review required fields and arrays before using the schema.
  • The browser validator checks generated types, required fields, additional properties, and selected formats. It is not a full JSON Schema validator.

Common questions

Are all example keys required?
When required fields are on, every key in each example object becomes required. Turn that option off if omitted keys are valid.
What does strict properties mean?
It adds additionalProperties: false to each inferred object. That rejects fields absent from the example.
Does validation cover the entire JSON Schema standard?
No. The included checker covers the constraints this generator emits. Use a full validator for other keywords or production contracts.
